Biopsies are crucial for detecting cancer, and doctors and patients depend on the accuracy and speed of these results. A collaboration between ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich has led to an automated tissue clearing and staining process, which reduces the time it takes to analyse tissue samples and provides comprehensive 3D images. The invention triggered the founding of the ETH spin-off IMAI, which commercialises this cutting-edge technique.
