ETH Industry Day: Hands-on research and innovation

The ETH Industry Day on 21 November 2024 is a unique opportunity to gain insight into ETH research and its application in the industry. This year, it will take on a new dimension as part of Open-i at the Zurich Convention Center. The first highlights are confirmed, and registration for the event is now open.

Immerse yourself in research, get inspired, and benefit from the best networking opportunities at the same time. Discover promising technologies and get to know the most innovative start-up companies. The proven format of the ETH Industry Day will be continued: You can expect short presentations by ETH professors and ETH spin-offs as well as interviews on case studies of successful collaboration between industry and research.

Highlights and industry co-operations

The presentations and case studies are as diverse as ETH Zurich and are divided into four thematic areas:

  • AI & Robotics
  • Health & Food
  • Sustainability & Construction
  • Processes & Materials

Some highlights have been revealed already: Alongside Professor Marco Hutter, who will talk about the ETH Centre for Robotics, we will learn from Professor Andrea Frangi how modern high-rise buildings are built from wood and Professor Alexander Mathys will give insight into sustainable food processing.

The case studies from industrial collaborations range from fascinating clock faces in rainbow colours to teamwork-capable robots. Find out first-hand how industry projects are advancing both research and industry. The ETH Industry Day offers the best opportunity to get in touch with researchers and discuss your needs.

Exhibition

In addition, the popular exhibition will now run for a whole day, providing an opportunity for in-depth discussions with spin-offs, researchers and professors. The facilities at the Zurich Convention Center also allow for exciting exhibits such as a walkable map that becomes a relief using Augmented Reality and shows Switzerland's future energy supply. You can also marvel at the latest version of the ANYmal robot, which can now clamber over rocks and debris and can, therefore, be used on construction sites or in disaster areas where it is too dangerous for humans.
