Breathing and heart activity reveal something about our stress levels. No smartwatch can measure stress and breathing activity in real-time, but Oxa, the new product from ETH Spin-off Nanoleq does exactly that.

A grand total of 26 spin-​offs were founded at ETH Zurich in 2022. Their businesses range from new cancer drugs and sustainable water bottles to digital mapping of urban traffic flows. The ETH spin-​off family also welcomed three new unicorns and raised 1.2 billion Swiss francs in fresh capital.

Single cancer cells separate from their tumour and dissipate via the bloodstream through the body.  Early detection of these circulating cells can help physicians to intervene in time and reduce the risk of tumour spreading. Stavros Stavrakis presents a promising diagnostic method.
